My niece found this lil guy in her house and asked me to help find out what kind it is and if its dangerous. Plz help
Hi, this is a male Brown Recluse (Loxosceles reclusa). (ID to species tentatively based on range, there are other possible species in the genus in North America that look too similar to distinguish from an image like this.)
Although this species is considered to be of medical significance given how common they are bites are relatively rare, and significant reactions to bites are even rarer. You can reduce the number of spiders you find in your home by sealing cracks around floors, doors, windows, foundation etc., vacuum everywhere and empty the canister outside. Sticky traps are also effective and may be placed behind furniture where the floor meets the wall or anywere that can’t adequately be sealed.
