Hi, this is a Huntsman Spider (Sparassidae), it doesn’t look enough like the species I’m seeing listed for New Zealand. Maybe an Isopeda sp. (Filed tentatively to species.)

Seeing now that Isopeda villosa may haven been introduced to Auckland.

No, I considered that. When I compared them the first thing I noticed was how different the chelicerae (jaws) looked. Your spider has them covered with white hair, if you compare it to images of the Avondale Spider (Delena cancerides) you’ll see those have them mostly black and shiny.

I see this is a relatively old post but what suburb of Auckland was this spotted in? I’ve discovered one Isopeda Villosa in Herne Bay recently. Trying to ascertain if there is an established population nearby.
I know they’ve also been reported in Vic Park.
