This is a detail of my previous photo of this wolf spider. The markings on its abdomen seem so symmetrical around the “chocolate drop”. Perhaps it is something parasitic, as was suggested.

I don’t think it’s possible to be sure from this, but it is a possibility. If you kept him you could wait and see if something eventually crawls out.
