Is this a black widow? I couldn’t see any red but I didn’t want to wait to try and see.

This possibly is a Widow (Latrodectus sp.). There’s not enough detail here for me to be 100% certain but the proportions of the legs look right.
Thank you so much. Do you think that the web would be near and with more spiders? Or just the one? Should I try and hire someone to find it or use chemicals that I can buy? This spider was found inside of my house…
Before worrying … looking again, it looks like there might be a pattern on the back that would be consistant with a Noble False Widow, Steatoda nobilis (not a true Widow) … it could be the image quality making the legs look heavy. If there is an off-white shield-like pattern on the abdomen it should be S. nobilis. If you determined that it was a Widow (Latrodectus) I wouldn’t worry about just one. You can safely reduce the number of spiders in your home by sealing off cracks around floors, doors, windows, foundation, etc., vacuum everywhere and empty the canister… Read more »
