Comments & ID Thoughts

I found this little guy walking around on the floor in my dining area at around 11 PM. My first guesses are either a desert recluse or a golden sac. Considering the former and the potential danger it presents, I would definitely appreciate a positive ID on this guy.

Hi, I think it is Steatoda grossa, a False Black Widow. Definitely not a yellow sac spider. If you are worried it is okay to scoop up a spider or insect with a cup and paper and transfer them to the Great Outdoors.

Hi, I lived around Clark county 30 years, looked for desert recluse and found not a one. Plenty of western black widows around though.
I have to agree with TangledWeb, a male Steatoda grossa.
