orb cross spiders? My fear is that it is black widows. A diffuse, fine web of these guys on a flower box attached to the house, almost like the nets made by gypsy moths.

Hi. No, these are spiderling orb weavers, the yellow with black is somewhat consistent with a number of species.

If you had a cross orb weaver nearby last season, these are her likely offspring.
A couple or few days, they will disperse, find a place where they can balloon away.
Now that I know they are not potentially dangerous to me or my pets I can enjoy them for being colorful micro-spiders.
