Hi. one of my favorite spiders, this is a female southern house spider, Kukulcania hibernalis species
https://bugguide.net/node/view/26400
Considered totally harmless, not known to bite. Don’t know why she would be crawling about unless driven from their web home. A lot of fascinating things about these spiders, often welcomed by many. Their long life makes them popular pets, docile enough to freely handle, never heard of a hint of aggression with them.
5 of these lived in my last place, Had to rehome one with her egg sac, even then, not defensive just taking her from her web.

Another factoid,,one of these starred in the original spiderman movie.

That’s cool! The clip is available on youtube. I lprefer the original comic book depiction (Amazing Fantasy 15), it’s more melodramatic – less cheesy.

Yea, well,Steve Kutcher(a good friend) is the spider expert in a lot of movies, the other spider in the movie was a Delana spider(flat huntsman). Steve also lowered the Steatoda onto Toby McGuire’s hand. The bite scene was total GCI.
There are loads of youtubes with southern house spider, many pets, feeding, crawling on face and so on. Seems the really educational ones by professionals get deleted for copyright reason.
