Also can we tell male or female from this pic? I don’t want 100 of these running around the basement, as might be the case if the female hatches eggs. Thank you.
Yes, they’re good guys but not really an indoor species. If you do see a lot of them you can reduce their numbers by sealing cracks around floors, doors, windows, foundation etc. so that they don’t wander in by mistake. If it was really big it’s probably a female, though the palps (pedipalps, appendages near the spiders mouth) do look a bit swollen like an immature male’s … but I can’t see them very clearly, might just be a trick of the light.
