Comments & ID Thoughts
This spider was shiny black with a reddish dot on back. The light glare kinda washes it out but if you look hard on left side of white light flash you can see it. It looked like a female Black Widow but I’m not sure. Does anyone know?

Also, it was not aggressive at all and was found in an area that is located above a crawl place that was just described. My son who has better eyes then me is now saying it had a little red spot with white around it on its back. So maybe a male black widow. That’s just a guess on my part. Love to know what it really is because this is the third this year already. Lol
The legs look a bit short for this to be a true Widow (Latrodectus sp.), more likely one of the the False Widows (Steatoda). Steatoda grossa sometimes has tan triangles down it’s back but this image isn’t clear enough for me to say for certain.
