Found a bunch of spiders on my glue pad I lied out. Then one was almost told me last night and I hunted him down. What kind of spider is it? I found most in the laundry room

Help me with the type of spider this is, I’m finding so many in my home
I’m not sure, it isn’t anything considered dangerous. If there are spiders coming into your home there is at least one opening to the outdoors. They may be following insects in. If you have a landlord, he or she can be in charge of that. If you own check for gaps in door and windows frames. I can feel the gaps in my house foundation on a warm day by putting my hand near it outdoors and feeling for cold air. A candle flame will flicker near a drafty opening. This will save you heating and cooling energy too. There… Read more »
Someone said I had brown recluses? Yes you’re absolutely right about the drafty areas. The spiders are being found in my laundry room which is adjacent to the outside, as you mentioned the draft , The laundry room is the only room I have that does not have a baseboard and there is a little gap between the floor in the wall. Thank you for the advice on the phone I think that would do just fine. I am just terrified of spiders now, after finding one almost crawling on me. I don’t know why, I never was afraid of… Read more »
Nothing you’ve shared resembles a Recluse (Loxosceles sp.).
If you have any history of phobias a new one can suddenly start. My husband is working on a bunch of phobias (runs in his family). There have been times when I could accidentally create new ones by mentioning something when he was in that state of mind. Medication has helped stabilize his emotions and stopped new phobias. He learned to get rid of the full-blown arachnophobia (the ‘they are going to kill me in my sleep’ kind). He learned more about spiders, watched me calmly handle them, and read comic books about a super-powered spider queen. Now he takes… Read more »
Thank you Tangledweb,
I really don’t bother them if they don’t bother me, like I said I would normally just pick them up and put them outside but someone said it was a brown recluse, I had seen firsthand with brown recluses can do with necrosis. So yes I was very scared, but this does put my mind at ease knowing that even if one crawls on me it’s not poisonous.
Thank you for answering. The identification certainly helps things
You are very welcome! I am very glad when I am able to help ease someone’s stress.
Tentatively a Barn Funnel Weaver, Tegenaria domestica.
Thank you itsy-bitsy, the identification and knowing it is non-poisonous truly helps. Thank you for your time and identification of this spider. Cynthia
