I have no clue and am a newbie living in Sub -Himalayan West Bengal, India.
I would like to know
a. The name
b. Does it bite/sting? and if so is it venomous?
c. Is it endangered?

The spider is dead from insecticide spray and I have photos of it on its back and closeup of what appears to be its fangs
can anyone identify this spider? it was in our home last night and I unfortunately had to kill it using insecticide spray …
Have identified this spider. It is Chilobrachys himalayensis or the Himalayan Tarantula
Thanks for the update. Was the spider IDed by an expert or via another volunteer site like this one? I see several species in the genus listed for India and would need to review range data, etc. to rule out any possible range overlap between similar species before filing to species.
