Hi, welcome to Spider ID. 🙂 I don’t know what to tell you, that species name isn’t listed in the World Spider Catalog, and given the amount of detail here and not knowing it’s origins I can’t attempt to narrow it down. Myglamorphs are not my strong point however, someone else familiar with the hobby might have an insight that I lack.
Thank you, it is definitely a bit of a long shot but I’m determined to find out what it is.
Initially I thought it was some kind of mygalomorph spider, but looking at the picture closer Im pretty certain it is a Tarantula. However the Latin name has turned up nothing. It must be misspelled.
As seen in the picture it has placed an excessive amount of web, and it is lighting fast.
Thanks again for your help.
Tarantulas are in the infraorder Mygalomorphae, sorry I was using a blanket term to cover a wide range of things. I haven’t visited in a while, but arachnoboards.com is a forum I recall as having a lot of tarantula enthusiast members. This site is pretty new and we haven’t established a lot of members who do IDs yet, it’s been mostly me so you might have better luck if you try there.
I have actually put it in the arachnoboards,so hopefully someone can solve the mystery haha.
Sorry I didn’t explain the Mygalomorph thing very well, what I meant was that I initially thought it was a mygalomorph not classified as a tarantula (hexathelidae for example) although obviously
Thanks for your help, it is much appreciated!
