I wanted to say I think this is Metaltella simoni but I’m not overly sure?
Hi, this looks like a male Ghost Spider, Hibana gracilis.
I am wondering what you used to identify it by. The gray abdomen and orange carapace is what threw me. I could not find a solid image that looked like this and the closest I found was the male Hacklemesh.
Just a lot of experience looking at spiders, I instantly recogognize a lot of species at this point. This also happens to be a species I have first hand experience with turning up in my home so it’s one of the first ones I learned to recognize. There are other similar looking species in different families but I can distinguish them by the subtle pattern on the carapace (head) and abdomen. The spines on the legs which are visible in your image also help to distinguish it from other similar looking species, and the spacing of the eyes. There are… Read more »
