Near Richmond Virginia. Chesterfield Va to be exact. Inside their townhouse.

He is not doing well at all. One of the doctors mentioned a South American species that is much more toxic. Does anyone know if there is a way to tell? I would think this impossible ??
I’m not a doctor but I did work for municipal and State Public Health labs. I think it is more likely that your son might have had an allergic reaction in addition to the regular reaction. A bacterial infection from the puncture wound of the bite is also theoretically possible. I hope your doctor tested for Staphylococcus, Tetanus, and other anaerobic bacteria that could have entered his blood stream. A blood infection (sepsis) seems more likely than a bite from a foreign spider. If you still have the specimen there might be a nearby university that teaches Entomology that might… Read more »
