Comments & ID Thoughts

I never would've seen or noticed this beauty if it hadn't been for my cat climbing and jumping trying to get it. . . . It got away but omgosh I will scream if that just fell on me from out of nowhere. Anyone have any idea what kind of spider this it? I have massive spiders at my house/ on property. I would never harm any of them but I do know there are some biting poisonous ones; ie: wolf, black widow, black jumping. It was about the size of a half dollar. I tried doing research finding out what it was after I saw it last night, but unable to find anything. As I said I'd never hurt them but in turn I don't want to get bit or have idk if they could hurt my cats either

Gestalt is a Jumping Spider (Salticidae), Bold Jumper Phidippus audax is most likely but I can’t confirm from this image.

In USA we have black widow anti venom. Some spiders have more painful bites, but few are any more painful than a hornet sting. So, in general, in Ohio most spiders aren’t anything to fear. Thank you for not needlessly killing them.… Read more »
