What is this.. it laid eggs and the hatchlings are everywhere. My friend and her kids are terrified.
I think she’s a wolf spider. The hatchlings ride on their mothers until they are too big. If she was startled her hatchlings might have scattered. She’ll bite if she is handled in a way that scares her, health wise the bite isn’t significant. It would be a kindness if your friend and her kids tried to gently catch her and as many babies as possible and put them outdoors together. They might be caught by sliding a piece of paper under them and sliding them off into a container.
