Thank you for that. He is such a cool looking little guy. We have alot of weavers but ive never seen one like this before. Mostly the brown ones with the fat bodies. Thank you again for your answer.
You’re welcome. Most of your (fuzzy) brown fat-bodied ones are likely Neoscona crucifera, Hentz Orb-weavers. Super common.
So is this little guy a more rare find considering where im located and such. Or is it just a random pattern on a normal spider. Im only curious because my son and i are very intrigued by it.
This is also common and widespread mostly throughout eastern North America and down into Mexico. Being a little smaller and less conspicuous they’re just more likely to go unnoticed. They have several color morphs, this one is particularly beautiful.
Thanks again for your insight. This is a really nice lookiing spider. My son is now quite interested in these little guys. I foresee me spending alot more time with spiders now.
