I often read at night. I fell asleep reading with my light on. I woke around 3am to a big, hairy spider about 18 inches from my head. I tried to swat it, it ran. Later, I was searching along baseboards. I pulled back a large framed print that was tented against the wall. There it was! Voila!

I think it’s a type of wolf spider.
It is a Dark Fishing Spider, Dolomedes tenebrosus in the Nurseryweb Weaver family Pisauridae. They often wind up indoors at this time of year as they wander around looking for mates.
Thank you! Unfortunately for him, I am not its mate. Do you have any advice on how to keep them out?
I dont want them dead… just dont want to share residency. Unless they can pay rent.
LOL. I concur.
