Hey Stan I just got back from the Philippines, I was living there for 6 months and encountered this spider many times. It’s a Philippine Huntsman spider. A few of the ones I saw were bigger then my hand :O as scary as they might look A bite from a Huntsman spider on a human may cause some local swelling and a little bit of pain, but it would be gone within a day or two. the Huntsman is actually very timid it’s afraid of humans and usually try’s to avoid confrontation. That’s interesting! I got the impression from some postings from the Philippines that it is common to allow Huntsmen to live in homes to eat insects and other spiders. Have you heard of that?
Thanks a lot AlanG for identification and explanation. I was suspecting this might be sort of Huntsman spider but since I am not any expert or even fan of spiders I was not sure. I was so scared of this thing I was not even able to make decent detailed picture of it as I try to keep my distance. It was sitting there on main road, small ants crawling over its hairy legs and spider got nervous about them from time to time. Then I have seen how fast it can move. That’s clearly a tarantula because of the spinerets on its butt
