Hi, welcome to Spider ID. 🙂 Not a lot of detail here … but yeah, it looks like a Recluse (Loxosceles sp.). Not necessarily a Brown Recluse (L. reclusa), I think in NY it’s more likely a Mediterranean Recluse (L. rufescens) – not that that makes it any better. Distinguishing between the two with certainty would take a much clearer image and an expert or a look at the genitalia under a microscope. If I file it to L. rufescens it’ll just be tentative based on location.

If you found this in your home can reduce the number of spiders you see indoors by sealing cracks around floors doors, windows, foundation etc. Vacuum everywhere and empty the canister outside. For Recluse Spiders sticky traps can be placed behind furniture where the floor meets the wall or anywhere you think they might get in at that can’t otherwise be sealed. Beds can be moved a couple inches away from the walls and double stick tape can be put on the legs. Avoid having sheets and clean laundry on the floor.
