Comments & ID Thoughts

I believe this is the misumena vatia also known as the Golden-rod crab spider. Apparently not afraid of marigolds but rather living in it. No signs of webbing but many dead bugs trapped inside.

Yes, Misumena vatia. Crab Spiders don’t hunt with webs, they camouflage themselves and ambush prey that comes to a food source, often flowers. This species can turn yellow, so it makes sense that it chose a yellow flower. Yours is somewhat changed to yellow. It is a chemical change that is done by shifting colored chemicals in the body to and from the visible cell tissue.
