I am on vacation in Lebanon (the country) and we tend to keep coming across this specie if large spiders. The spiders can easily cover a good portion of an adult’s palm. I have seen other large spiders as well they tend to look tarantula like and have a reddish/ brownish back.

It’s a somewhat dry terrain but we do have cold winters and lots of water springs. Elevation is 1250 meters above sea level.

We’ve been seeing these spiders forever. I recall seeing these as a kid when we used to come here on vacation.
