I think it’s a black widow but I don’t know. It was hanging over my doorway so I sprayed it. Took this picture the next day. They say black widows are shinny with a red hour glass. This looks hairy with a red S. Can’t find anything close other than a black widow.

Hi Ziggy! That looks like a Black Widow. Possibly the Northern species. The hourglass mark is scrunched up. If it isn’t too late please post a photo of the back (dorsal) of the spider, this is the underside. We don’t have any photos yet on our site for New Jersey Black Widows. The markings on the spider’s back help us tell the Widow species apart. Thank you for sharing this with us!
