Comments & ID Thoughts

Dolomedes cf. tenebrosus

Ok I just almost had a heart attack. I was walking inside from my garage and I saw this gigantic spider on the wall. It was just sitting in the middle of the wall and it was as big as the palm of my hand. What I’m the world? Why is it so big? What I’m the world is it? And how can I prevent more of these from infesting my house?

Hi, welcome to Spider ID. 🙂 This is a Fishing Spider (Dolomedes), tentatively D. tenebrosus. They don’t want to infest your home. If they’re wandering in by mistake you can make it more difficult for them to find their way in by sealing cracks around floors, doors, windows, foundation etc.

Spiders love to eat other bugs and insects and they have bad eyesight but great sense of vibration. Spider can also cause serious complications in the human body. That is why it is necessary that you should use spider traps which are helpful in getting rid of spiders. For a quick, effective, and safe spider pest control you can get in contact with a professional Pest control Walnut Creek CA team, where they will find the right treatment to get rid of them.
