I saw something last night, 7/18, spinning a web on a dead lilac bush in my backyard in Fairfield IA. The motion light on the house perfectly spotlighted it, and it was approximately 6 to 6-1/2 ft off the ground. As a devout arachnaphobe I did not even think to take a photo. I’ll look for it again tonight and try to take a photo.
Awesome! That is how many people on this site stopped being afraid of spiders.
I’m not certain, my best guess would be Tigrosa aspersa, a Tiger Wolf Spider- 3 predators in 1 name!
Well, I like tigers and wolves, just the spider part that freaks me out…lol. I’ll research that spider to get more info. I looked for it last night but it was so hot I didn’t stay out long. Will try again tonight. Thanks for the info!
