This was on my hallway wall. I think it is a Male Black Widow. We had female black widows outside when we built this house 22 years ago, but I had never seen this type of marking. The ones that were here before had the orange/red houglass.
Hi, this looks like a male Latrodectus mactans, a Southern Black Widow. The hourglass should be red and on the underside. Texas also has Latrodectus hesperus, the Western Black Widow and L. geometricus, the Brown Widow. Brown widows have an orange/red hourglass that is a bit wider. The dorsal markings change as a Widow matures.
