Please identify this spider for me. It's very large and has constructed a huge web from the top pitch on the roof of my house. Based on the size of the web it looks like it's trying to catch large prey. I went outside after taking the photographs of the spider and it's now missing from its web. I tried to wash the web off the back of my house to no avail.
