Comments & ID Thoughts
Initially, this spider looked like a brown recluse, but there are a few distinctions that lead me to believe otherwise. First, it has a way shiny body, not smooth like the recluse. Second, the legs are shorter, have smaller segmented parts, and spines on the legs rather than fine hairs. Third, while this spider has what looks like the body of a fiddle, it's missing the neck, which makes it not a complete looking fiddle. Also I found this spider traveling across the floor. I have seen one more of these in my garage, but it too was out in the open so definitely not a reclusive species.
