Comments & ID Thoughts

I thought it might be an orb weaver; though it is not easy to see, it is laying in the center of a circular web. However I was not able to photograph the web at this time

Looks like a Cross Orb-weaver but hard to tell for sure with the lighting. I would say 95% of spiders you find sitting in the centre of a circular web are orb-weavers

Neoscona arabesca? There are two common spiders with crucifix-shaped markings on the upper abdomen. Neoscona crucifera (“cross bearer”) is one, but the common name is Hentz Orbweaver. The other is Araneus diadematus, a Cross Orbweaver. It has what looks like a crucifix shape painted thinly with white-out on the upper abdomen. Lets just stop naming animals after torture/execution devices like crucifixes. It gets confusing.
