This is the second one I’ve seen on a night walk with my dog. The first one I saw was about a couple weeks before this one which was much smaller.
I just saw one of these tonight and tried look it up.. wasn’t listed in the indigenous spiders.. definitely looks like a camel spider♂️
I’ve seen a 3rd since.
https://arachnology.org/arachnology/orders/solifugae.html This is a solifuge, they can’t be found in a list of spiders because they are in class Arachnida, but order Solifugae. Spiders are in order Aranidae. There are at least a thousand species of them in the world. Our site specializes in spiders, so I don’t have any more specific knowledge of the identification. Bugguide.net might be able to help a bit. Identification to species level probably involves a microscope or genetic testing, like it can for some spiders.
