Comments & ID Thoughts

Body was black or dark dark brown and was dimpled also shiny. The spider, not including legs, was probably between 1/4" and 1/2". I found it in my BBQ covering. I initially thought black widow, but did not see a red hour glass on it's belly. Then I thought it kind of looked like a tick but I think it was too big for that. I have never seen one like this before...What is it???

This looks like a false widow in the genus Steatoda.

Whoa!! I also found one of these on my bbq cover! I don’t believe it is a false widow. This is different. Mine was very bronze/copper coloured, not black. Very shiny like metal and it looks like armour on the back. I really want to know what it is.
