Comments & ID Thoughts

Definitely curious what this is. Maybe 1.5” (including legs). In my entryway near door on ground level of house. I’m happy to provide more information about this, just do not know what might be relevant.

This is a camel spider, also commonly known as a wind scorpion, sun spider, and solifuge. From the order Solifugae, they are agile and tenacious predators, feeding on insects such as crickets and cockroaches, as well as other species from the class Arachnida. The larger ones can even hunt birds, lizards and other small vertebrates. Commonly found in deserts and mountain ranges. The largest ones in the Middle East can grow up to eight inches.

While it can give a nip, these guys are not toxic. They are unable to break human skin, so I doubt it will be any real trouble. However, they can run up to 10 mph, and can get agitated if you disturb them too much. I know how playful and curious puppies can be when they come around a certain age, so I would definitely keep any that you find outside if you can, much like any other bug.

Any time! Good luck and wishes with your corgi!
