Walking thru a nature trail, this spider had a web between two trees, hanging over the nature trail. Maybe 12 feet above the trail. Looked like it had “lunch” ready and waiting. Plus a baby spider just next to the adult one.
Yes and that is a male T. clavipes that looks like a baby. It is trying to mate with her. I recently saw one on the Palmetto Trail in South Carolina in Poinsett State Park. It was difficult to photograph a spider so high off the ground. Thankfully these spiders are huge.
