It was photographed in Orem,Utah. It's about the size of the black widows I see around here and they usually don't get bigger than that but it was on a single thread and not in a web so I couldn't tell.

Black and white markings like a square on the opisthosoma. Looked like a box with white circles on it.
Hi, this is an orbweaver in genus Neoscona. Behind her are the beginning strands of an orb web. She isn’t dangerous at all. I’m not sure which species she is. I think Neoscona crucifera is most likely. She has the traits of three Neoscona species. Altogether she’s very attractive.
