There are a couple of these guys inhabiting our woodpile. It’s hard to get a good picture especially since they are shy and dart back into their lil hidey holes if you come too close.
https://spiderid.com/picture/51661/ My grass spider photos on this site rank high on Google searches. It is weird having your own photos come up as a result. The grass spiders are often afraid of light. I memorized where some webs are and I sneak up on them in the dark and aim my camera in the direction. I only get one shot because the flash repels them.
And here’s me, taking 40 pictures of ever spider I find ’cause I want my shot to be perfect.
Me too! I don’t have that luxury with grass spiders. If I get a spider that actually holds still I try different flash levels, distances, angles, I even carry small scrapbooking paper, the size of my phone in my phone bag. I try to get the spider or insect in front of the paper for an additional crisp image. They don’t enjoy that. I’m lucky to get one good photo of a specimen. I’m still experimenting.
