I believe this is Harpactira namanquensis
I found him late at night in my bedroom, I was going to sleep when I heard the sound, as if something had flopped to the floor..
Is they bite ? badly, docile?
As far as I know, they are not very aggressive, but they will rear up if they feel threatened, so if that happens leave them alone. They are not dangerous to humans beyond a fairly painful bite.
Is this female or male ?
Unfortunately I cannot say for sure with Tarantulas, I would need to see a molt to be certain
Anyway, thank you. Have a nice Easter !
You too!
Hi, welcome to Spider ID. 🙂 I was thinking this looked like a Ceratogyrus sp., compare to:
http://www.tarantupedia.com/harpactirinae/ceratogyrus/ceratogyrus-meridionalis
There are a few species in the genus in range. When I have more time I will look at it closer to see if I can narrow it down with any certainty.
I think this is correct upon a second viewing. I had thought Ceratogyrus all had prominent protrusions or horns, and didn’t think to check meridionalis. Nice catch!
