No idea what kind of spider this is! New to Southern California and spotted this sucker in my bathtub. I have seen them before, but this time I’m curious enough to submit a photo.

I believe this to be an (possibly male) immature Steatoda grossa, aka false black widow. They’re non-native and harmless to people, and are extremely common in California. This is a picture of an immature S. grossa:

Agree, filed. Well except for the harmless part, I’d go with mostly harmless. Like most spiders they have venom but are unlikely to bite except in self defense and not considered to be of medical significance, everyone’s immune system is different though. Welcome to Spider ID. 🙂
