Hi, this is Neoscona crucifera, a Hentz Orbweaver. The odd leg is actually her right leg of the first pair pulled back at a proximal joint and bent forward at a distal joint. It’s just an illusion that it appears to come out of her back. Their colors are usually in the range of tan/gold/salmon/ brown. The species name crucifera comes from “crucifer, ” which is ‘one who bears a cross’. The “cross” marking is on the abdomen. She is not dangerous.
