Comments & ID Thoughts

I encountered this spider 25 feet up on my ladder on a cable span today, never seen anything like it before. I sprayed it and it flew off into the trees.. Then a couple mins later I saw it coming back up until I broke the web line it was on. Freaky!

Hi,and welcome to the site. Your little friend looks to be a female tropical orb weaver, Eriophora ravilla species. Likely hiding out for the day making a big orb web at dusk.

I see this is up on a utility pole, not unusual, the young disperse by ballooning.
