Looks like Cheiracanthium inclusum – yellow sac spider. They are active at night (and often build a small cocoon that they retreat to during the day – I find these occasionally in the crease between the wall and ceiling). There’s some discussion about the venom of this spider causing a reaction (but not dangerous) in some people (myself included). I catch and release them outside.
I wish someone would just do a research project that experiments with the venom and humans. My scars from the bites have faded, but they are permanent. I don’t kill the spiders either, I learned to avoid causing them to bite me. I let them live in my house in my cycle of spiders. They eat other spiders, then get eaten.
“Cycle of spiders” – well put! I have to include two indoor cats into the cycle, as they eat crawling and flying critters that find their way into the house – one of my kitties ate a spider a few days ago, before I could even identify it. Bummer – especially for the spider.
