Leucauge argyrobapta, ventral, same female individual as my other photos. She's near maturity, she's been mating this week.

I found something from the University of Florida, but the site is not secure, I won’t post a link. They said genetic sequencing in 2018 puts L. argyrobapta as a species only found in Florida and southward. They said it is almost impossible to tell the species apart visually. They believe that the Leucauge spiders from Georgia northward are a separate population and seperate species, Leucauge venusta. There may be another species within the Leucauge genus that hasn’t been determined yet. She’s gorgeous!
They’re even prettier in-person! The legs look metallic green and the body reflects light in a way that makes them look like they glow.
