Comments & ID Thoughts

Hello! I just spotted this spider on the front path of my home in the Okanagan region of British Columbia. It's 13°C right now. It was moving quite quickly and looked to be approximately 2cm in length. I would love to know what it is- especially as it headed for the grass and I have a young son and a small dog. Is it poisonous?
Thank you for your help!

Hi, welcome to Spider ID. 🙂 This is a Folding-door Spider (Antrodiaetis sp.). Like most spiders they have venom but are not considered to be of medical significance. Everyone’s immune system is different though.
