I think this a cobweb spider but not sure. I'm really just trying to get some info on this spider as we have been overrun by them in our new house and find them everywhere even in one of my kids crib. Are these spiders dangerous? Should we take action to get rid of them? I generally do not like hurting or killing spiders so a little help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, this is a Cobweaver in family Theridiidae. The genus is Steatoda. They are known as False Widows. They aren’t dangerous to most humans, immune system reactions to spiders and insect venoms vary. The spiders with venom that is generally dangerous to anyone in the US are Black Widows, Brown Widows, and Brown Recluses. Children’s immune systems tend to be more reactive leading to dangerous systems. I agree that killing everything that could theoretically be a risk is morally and scientifically a mistake.
