Picture of unidentified spider

Comments & ID Thoughts

Found while removing weeds from around my irrigated grapefruit trees. Weeds were small green tumbleweeds, flowered camphorweed and London rocket. No actual ground cover besides dirt and small rocks typical of the Phoenix area desert. The spider was on one of the weeds, probably the larger camphorweed, and I noticed her scurrying away from the pile of pulled weeds back towards the trees.

The subject was bright deep green, similar shade as the weeds, with a large bulbous abdomen, distinct leg/joint coloration, and 2 white stripes lengthwise over the top of the abdomen. Did not photograph underside. There was no webbing visible on the weeds that were pulled.

Never seen a spider like her before!

I think it’s a type of crab spider, not sure on species though
