It had a pale, almost white belly. Its web was like a bunch of crisscrossing beams. It pressed itself flat against the side of the boat (I found it in a boat while fishing) until I touched it; and then it started running for cover.
It sounds and looks like a Flattie, family Selenopidae. They are one of the fastest moving animals in the world.
Flattie is definitely the right name for it. Thank you!
