I found a spider very much like this one yesterday and have been trying to find out what it could be and after much research the only thing that I could find that came close to making sense was that it might be a female brown widow.
I think you might be right. I just looked up a picture and it looks similar. For some reason I didn’t come across the False Widow when trying to search for info yesterday. Thanks.

The quick answer is: no it isn’t a Brown Widow. They have noticeable markings. This might be a False Widow in genus Steatoda.
