Comments & ID Thoughts
I'm thinking this is a Hogna antelucana from the looks of it. It was on the backside of our house tonight and just peacefully spun a web as we took pictures of it. I would love to know more about it!

Hi, thanks for trying to identify it. Wolf Spider species can be ruled out, they don’t climb verticals well and they don’t hunt by web. From the other photo it looks like it is in family Agelendae, the Grass Spiders. They are often on the sides of houses. Yours has interesting colors and you got a nice clear photo of it. Somebody might still be able to identify it to genus level. Species level of ID usually requires a microscope and genitalia dissection. Your spider is fortunate to have avoided that unpleasantness. 😉
