Comments & ID Thoughts

Definitely a wolf spider of some sort. Was thinking Schizocosa but the leg bands throw me off.

She’s a Hentz Orbweaver, Neoscona crucifera. They are a hairy species. They make the classic orb webs and aren’t dangerous. There is a pale marking on the abdomen on the back that looked like a crucifix to the person who named the species. “Crucifera” comes from the word crucifer, which means “cross bearer”.
