So this is the third one seen in our house. The first two were killed. I caught this one without fainting, screaming, or puking. Is this thing harmful at all? Because it looks like it crawled out from the depths of heck.
That is the Broad-Faced Sac Spider. It is a hunting spider and does not spin a web. Normally found outdoors but tend to come inside for the autumn and winter. The bite is comparable to that of a wasp sting. For the most part they will leave you alone, but can bite if agitated. They are native to New England.
Thank you! I didn’t realize Trachelas tranquillis is an East Coast Spider. That will make it easier for me to do identifications knowing where to expect them to be or not to be.
