Araneus peigna? She’s awesome! I think she’s in genus Araneus. I haven’t seen these exact colors and markings before. If you can get a ventral (underside) photo of her and another dorsal-clearer and on a contrasting background, that would be great! New pics can only be uploaded individually as new submissions. I would like to see the extra pics for more clues and because she’s gorgeous. For contrasting backgrounds I try to slip colored paper behind the spider (purple is the opposite of yellow), but that often causes the spider to jump to escape. Thank you so much for your interest and quick response! I did get some more pictures, but I’m not sure they are much of an improvement. I will post a couple anyways, just in case. I’m hesitant to try the trick with the paper for a few reasons–I would really hate to disturb her (she’s been my shower buddy for at least a couple months now!). I don’t want to make her feel threatened, and I think I would also have to destroy her web in order to do so, because of its location right on top of the window… Read more »
